About Amaranth

Amaranth is a grain that has been cultivated for over 8,000 years and was a key food of the Aztecs.  In Smoothie Protein, we use Amaranth Flour, which is just the grain ground up into a fine powder.  Amaranth does not contain gluten.

Nutrition Benefits of Amaranth

Amaranth is considered a superfood by most people.  It has a very high quality of protein (assording to the Education Concerns for Hunger Organization).  It is high in the amino acid, Lysine, which in uncommon in other grains.

Amaranth also contains phytochemical antioxidants that have been linked with cancer prevention qualities.  Other studies have shown links to potentially support cardviovascular disease, cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, blood pressure, gastrointestinal support, and immune system support.
