Cayenne Pepper can be grown in a variety of locations.  It is usually dried and ground up.  In our smoothie recipes, we use cayenne pepper powder.

Nutrition Benefits of Cayenne Pepper

By weight, cayenne pepper is high in vitamin A, B6, vitamin E, C, Riboflavin, potassium, and manganese.  It also has a high amount of capsaicin (the compound that makes a pepper hot).  Capsaicin has been shown with potential benefits to lower blood pressure / increasing circulation (via dilating arteries), boosting metabolism, balancing energy, suppressing appetite, and also thought to be an aphrodisiac.  Capsaicin is also put in muscle/joint creams to help treat minor aches and pains of muscles and joints.
