About Lucuma
Lucuma is native to Peru and may also be referred as “Egg Fruit” or the “Gold of the Incas”, as it was a food loved by the Incas. It has a maple-like sweet potato taste and is a sweet and soft fruit with a texture like the dry egg yolk in a hard boiled egg. It is grown at altitudes between 4,500-10,000 feet.
We use Lucuma Powder in Ancient Delight, Ancient Greens, and Ancient Chocolate.
Nutrition Benefits of Lucuma
Lucuma is considered a superfood. Many use it as a natural sweetener. It is rich in beta-carotene which has been linked to possibly helping protect against certain cancers. Lucuma is also rich in iron, niacin (B3), and fiber.
