Maple Syrup

About Maple Syrup

Maple syrup was first used by North Americans (prior to European Americans).  Over 75% of the world’s Maple Syrup comes from Quebec, Canada.

Nutrition Benefits of Maple Syrup

Maple syrup is primary used as a sweetener.  The sugar is primarily sucrose.  It contains a high amount of Zinc and Manganese.  Unlike processed sugars, maple syrup contains some minerals and antioxidants, which is why it is a preferred sweetener to sugar.  There have been some lab studies showing a link between the antioxidants found in maple syrup and anti-cancer properties.
