About Pineapple

Pineapples are native to South America and was cultivated by the Mayas and Aztecs.  It was first introduced to Europe by Christopher Columbus.  The largest producers of pineapple are Costa Rica, Phillipines, Brazil, and Thailand.

Nutrition Benefits of Pineapple

Pineapple is an excellent source of manganese and vitamin C.  It is also high in Bromelain – which is a proteolytic enzyme.  Bromelain has been linked to potential benefits related to anti-inflammation, digestion, and cancer fighting properites.  Vitamin C helps with immune support.  Manganese has been linked to energy production and antioxidant defenses.

We typically buy frozen pineapple to be used in smoothies.  They are cheaper and last a very long time.
