Pumpkin Seeds (raw)

Healthy Smoothie Recipes with Pumpkin Seeds

About Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin is apart of the squash family and are native to North America.  They are currently grown all over the world, but North America continues to be the biggest producers.  You can buy pumpkin seeds roasted, raw, and/or salted.  We recommend raw pumpkin seeds for use in smoothies due to the better health benefits.  Keeping seeds raw will preserve healthy fats.

Nutrition Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin seeds are loaded with magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper, and protein.  They also have a very diverse set of unique antioxidants including many different forms of vitamin E.  They also contain Omega 3’s.

Pumpkin seed benefits have been linked to diabetes support (insulin regulation), antimicrobial benefits, cancer benefits, heart health (from the magnesium), immune system benefits (from the zinc), prostate benefits (from the zinc), liver health, sleep (from tryptophan that gets converted into melatonin), and anti-inflammatory benefits.

We consider pumpkin seeds to be a superfood.
